Interview with Yasuno Masatoshi

Yasuno Masatoshi was born on September 7, 1948 in Kanazawa city which is in the Ishikawa prefecture, Japan. Yasuno Masatoshi is a Hombu Shihan with a 8 Dan Aikikai rang and is considered to be Yamaguchi Sensei’s technique heir along with the Seishiro Endo, Yoshinobu Takeda and Christian Tissier. Etsuji Horii

Etsuji Horii Sensei was born on May 5, 1964 in Osaka, Japan. When he was at Junior High School, at the age of 14, he joined the local Aikido Club. During the spring holidays he was able to go to Hombu and trained there for a full week and became fully dedicated from this time on. Two years later Etsuji Horii joined the technical college where the Aikido Club was absent and he organized his own. He spent 5 years more years doing Aikido there. Right after his graduation Sensei joined Hombu again but this time as an uchideshi. (more…)

The interview with Hiroyuki Sakurai, 6 Dan Aikido Aikikai Hombu Dojo Shihan was taken on June 9, 2018 during the third seminar with the Sensei at Chisinau, Moldova. I had my chance to ask Sensei during the lunch break between the classes. Shoji Seki

Shoji Seki Shihan was born on 6th March, 1950 in Yamagata Prefecture, Japan.  While he was a student in a Musashi Institute of Technology in Tokyo a group of the aikidokas were giving a demonstration and in 1969 Shoji joined. (more…)

Yukimitsu Kobayashi

Yukimitsu Kobayashi was born on 15 April 1960. While in the elementary and middle school he attended Judo for six years. He also trained baseball which was and is highly popular in Japan. At 18 years old Yukimitsu attended University where he studied Law and Jurisprudence. This is where he met his first Aikido teacher in the face of the Masando Sasaki who was a direct disciple of the O’Sensei and Tamura. (more…)

Yoshiaki Yokota

Yoshiaki Yokota Shihan was born in 1958. He started doing budo with a judo and became a Captain of the Judo Club in a Junior High School at the age of 12.   He soon found more interest in Karate and had an Aikido club in a High School. Christian Tissier

Christian Tissier was born on February 7, 1951 in Paris, France. He began aikido at the age of 11 under the Jean-Claude Tavernier in his native city and soon on moved to train under the Mutsuro Nakazono, 7 Dan Aikido Aikikai. In 1968 Christian received a 2nd Dan from Nakazono Sensei and made a plan to go to Japan after. (more…)

Nobuyuki Watanabe

Nobuyuki Watanabe was born on July 25, 1930 in Miyazaki Prefecture. Sumo was the first budo on his way and at secondary school he started Judo. He also made Jukenjutsu  but really liked and considered Judo to be the best martial art possible before he got thrown with the Shiho-Nage

Masatomi Ikeda

Masatomi Ikeda was born in Tokyo, Japan on 8 April 1940. He is a Japanese aikido teacher who holds the rank of 7th dan Aikikai and a status of Shihan. He was already deeply interested in budo before he started his aikido way. He was able to achive a 4th dan in judo and a 5th dan in sumo through the course of life.  (more…)
