Juba Nour and the Baja Aikido

Juba Nour has a 6 Dan in Aikikai and holds a status of a Shihan. He’s one of the first known uchi-deshi’s for Kazuo Chiba. A founder of the Baja Aikido on the beaches of Mexico and one of the Birankai’s heroes.

Starting from 1983 Juba Nour been a favorite uke for the demonstrations, a big part of a powerful reality made by Chiba Sensei.

He then moved to Tokyo, Japan and continued to study art under the late Kisshomaru Ueshiba at Hombu. Juba Nour Sensei has over 20 years of Aikido practice with the best possible teacher.

Aikido moved him around the world a lot, not only as uke and student. He’s a teacher with a lot of years of experience now. Running seminars, camps, opening schools. His first school was established in New Haven, Connecticut. He established Aikido of Manhattan in 1995 and in 2009 Baja Aikido was created where Sensei finally feels well.

Baja Aikido is located in a small town named Todos Santos, Mexico. 75 miles to the north from Cabo San Lucas and it’s an Aikido dream.

This charming little town is famous for being not only an artists’ colony, but also a surfing hotspot, and a great place for fishing. But there is more than water sports, like horseback riding, whale watching, mountain hiking, cooking seminars, West African drumming, photography club, poetry club…

It’s not only about the Aikido but also Yoga, Zen-meditation. There’s an uchi-deshi program just as it should be in a Birankai School. Staying in such a place is healthy, a more natural way than the city with unique, environmental beauty.
