Interview with Yasuno Masatoshi

Yasuno Masatoshi was born on September 7, 1948 in Kanazawa city which is in the Ishikawa prefecture, Japan. Yasuno Masatoshi is a Hombu Shihan with a 8 Dan Aikikai rang and is considered to be Yamaguchi Sensei’s technique heir along with the Seishiro Endo, Yoshinobu Takeda and Christian Tissier. Etsuji Horii

Etsuji Horii Sensei was born on May 5, 1964 in Osaka, Japan. When he was at Junior High School, at the age of 14, he joined the local Aikido Club. During the spring holidays he was able to go to Hombu and trained there for a full week and became fully dedicated from this time on. Two years later Etsuji Horii joined the technical college where the Aikido Club was absent and he organized his own. He spent 5 years more years doing Aikido there. Right after his graduation Sensei joined Hombu again but this time as an uchideshi. (more…)

Interview with Hiroyuki Sakurai

Shoji Seki

Shoji Seki Shihan was born on 6th March, 1950 in Yamagata Prefecture, Japan.  While he was a student in a Musashi Institute of Technology in Tokyo a group of the aikidokas were giving a demonstration and in 1969 Shoji joined. (more…)

Yukimitsu Kobayashi

Yukimitsu Kobayashi was born on 15 April 1960. In the elementary and middle school he attended Judo for six years, also trained baseball which was and is highly popular in Japan. At 18 years old Yukimitsu attended University where he studied Law and Jurisprudence. This is where he met his first Aikido teacher in the face of the Masando Sasaki who was a direct disciple of the O’Sensei and Tamura Sensei. (more…)

Tsuruzo Miyamoto

Miyamoto Tsuruzo was born on March 30, 1953 in the island of Kyushu, Japan. A the age of 18 he entered the University of Fukuoka where he started doing Aikido under the Morito Suganuma Sensei who was already an important instructor in the Aikikai. (more…)

Ulf Evenas

Ulf Evenas Shihan was born on 3 of November 1946 in Trollhattan, Sweden. His budo way began with a Kyokushin Karate but soon after, in 1968, he switched to Aikido which he studied under Carl Hansson in Gothenburg who had a background in Judo, Ju-Jitsu. (more…)

Patrick Cassidy

Patrick Cassidy is a 6th dan Aikikai Aikido instructor. He has been practicing Aikido for over 30 years. His primary teacher was Saito Morihiro Shihan (1928 – 2002), whom he studied with in Japan for 6 ½ years. He also spent extended time studying with Robert Nadeau Shihan, Peter Ralston and Richard Moon Sensei.

Ikuhiro Kubota

Ikuhiro Kubota was born on June 19, 1943 in Kashihara, Nara, Japan. He is 8th Dan Aikido Aikikai and one of the biggest masters of the time in Japan. His main teacher and aikido-friend is Hiroshi Tada.
